Intensity arcs, explained

What Gradual build, Peak & release, Steady, and the other arc shapes mean.

The arc is the energy shape of the class over time — how intensity rises and falls from warm-up to cool-down. Generation uses it to pace the sequence.

Steps

  1. Gradual build: a steady climb to one peak, then a settle — satisfying for all levels.
  2. Peak & release: moderate warm-up, an intense middle, then generous deep cool-down — great after stressful days.
  3. Steady: consistent moderate intensity, no big highs or lows — maintenance practice.
  4. Wave: two peaks with a recovery valley between — variety for experienced practitioners.
  5. Restorative: low intensity throughout, long holds, nervous-system settling.

Tips

  • The arc editor visualises intensity over time, so you can sanity-check the shape after editing poses.
