Revolved Half Moon Pose (Parivritta Ardha Chandrasana)

A challenging standing balance that combines a single-leg stance with a deep spinal twist, Revolved Half Moon requires the body to extend horizontally while rotating the torso so the top arm reaches skyward and the bottom hand grounds beneath the shoulder. It simultaneously strengthens the standing leg and glutes, mobilizes the thoracic spine, and trains focus and proprioception. This pose is an excellent tool for building the coordination and body awareness needed for advanced flows.
Cues
- Press the grounded hand or fingertips into the floor directly below your shoulder to create a stable foundation before initiating the twist.
- Extend through the lifted heel and reach the crown of the head in opposite directions to lengthen the spine before rotating.
- Twist from the thoracic spine, stacking the top shoulder over the bottom and reaching the upper hand toward the ceiling.
- Fix your gaze on a single point to steady the balance, keeping the standing knee soft rather than locked.
