Reverse Corpse Pose (Advasana)

Reverse Corpse Pose is a deeply passive prone rest posture in which the practitioner lies face-down with arms alongside the body or extended overhead, allowing the entire back body to release and decompress. It counterbalances the supine relaxation of Savasana and is particularly soothing for those who experience discomfort lying on their back. The pose requires no muscular effort — the body simply surrenders its full weight into the earth and the breath moves naturally through the back ribs.
Cues
- Allow your forehead to rest on the mat or a folded blanket so the neck can fully release.
- Let your feet splay naturally outward and resist any urge to engage or hold the legs.
- Feel the rise and fall of each breath along the back ribs, using the floor as a gentle massage.
- Soften the muscles around your eyes and jaw completely before each exhale.
